RM Bridge Advanced Wizard Help

Substructure Page

The Substructure Page is used to provide information on the layout of the supports. Here you can define the names of the supports the types used: Abutment, Drop Cap, Hammerhead, and Wall.

The position of the support lines relative to the bridge axis is defined by a series of skew angles that represents the deviation angle from the direction normal to the alignment, with a range of [-45;45][deg].

There is the possibility to define the support behavior of an entire support line (i.e. one abutment or one pier). There is always support in vertical direction. Furthermore it can be defined separately if there is support in longitudinal direction and lateral direction.

Using the Reset supports name button you can go back to the initial naming of the supports.

Here are the steps to define custom supports inside Pier/Wizard Substructure:

1. Add/remove supports into the list. To change the support type, double click into Type column from the top list

2. Assign the main girder for each support by double click inside "Main Girder" column from the top list. Plan and side view will be displayed after selecting the main girder

3. Choose the station along selected "Main Girder". This can be done in 2 ways:
  • a. Double click on the "Station" column inside the top list; or
  • b. Graphically by clicking on the desired location in the plot.

4. Adjust the support parameters by double clicking on the corresponding support in the tree. Click F1 inside a support page for more information about defining support geometry.

F1-Help for Numbering Schema:

Numbers will be automatically assigned to different support. User can change this predefined numbering.

Note: User cannot change the numbering schema if they enable Numbering option under Modeler (Modeler à Numbering)
